ReStore Assistant Truck Driver

Hourly 32 hours per week

Description: This position is responsible for assisting with the pick-up of merchandise from donors, safely packing the merchandise in the ReStore truck and returning to ReStore and unpacking merchandise.

Hourly 32 hours, Tuesday - Friday

The ideal candidate is flexible and adaptable to a fast changing work environment and maintains a positive and friendly attitude while interacting with donors, customers, and volunteers.

Experience with building materials and transport is a plus but not necessary as we are willing to invest in the right candidate who can be an effective member of our team and is committed to Habitat for Humanity's mission of providing affordable housing in Cumberland county.

1. General Duties

• Load and unload all donated materials
• Communicate with ReStore Manager and Lead Driver regarding incoming donations
• Occasionally supervise volunteers in meaningful work
• Drive HFHGP truck to pick-up donated goods
• Maintain a professional relationship with ReStore staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners and ReStore customers+ donors
• Assist customers and donors in the ReStore with material handling, questions and store info
• Communicate clearly and punctually with donors by phone with updates to scheduled pickups
• Daily cleaning and straightening of ReStore truck, keeping it neat and clean
• Screen donations at the time of pickup for its quality
• Assist ReStore associates to prepare and price and stock donations in the ReStore
• Recognize and communicate the HFHGP building mission and the benefits of reuse to donors and customers alike

3. Required Skills / Experience

• Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check
• Minimum high school diploma or GED
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Some previous experience managing and/or working with volunteers a plus
• Display excellent customer service skills
• Must be friendly, flexible, enthusiastic and community oriented
• Must maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times when faced with difficult donor situations
• Safe and efficient operations of hand and power tools
• Team player, self-starter, able to work independently and delegate daily work schedules
• Knowledge of building materials and construction preferred
• Must have a driver's license and maintain a good driving record


• Able to lift up to 75 lbs., perform heavy manual tasks, work standing or walking for a full workday, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions
