Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland Installs Energy Efficient LED Lighting System with ReVision Energy Throughout Their Warren Avenue Property, Just in Time for 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is converting all of the lighting in their office area, ReStore, tenant space, exterior, and parking lot lights to energy efficient LED lighting. Upon completion, a total of 548 old light fixtures will have been replaced with 212 new highly efficient LED fixtures. ReVision Energy, a company that installs solar energy and other environmentally friendly systems, is completing the work. The building, located at 659 Warren Avenue in Portland, has been owned by Habitat since March of 2015.
With the 50th anniversary of Earth Day being Wednesday, April 22, the project comes just in time to celebrate making an environmental impact. “We believe this environmentally responsible decision is the right thing to do, both for financial and eco-conscious reasons,” said Godfrey Wood, Executive Director.
The new lighting system should save Habitat an estimated $10,900 in electrical bills every year and will make a significant impact on the improvement of the non-profit’s carbon footprint. Efficiency Maine is providing a $21,000 rebate for the installation as part of their At Work program.
Once Habitat has determined their electrical load, they will move forward with a rooftop solar installation with ReVision.
