What is Women Build?
Women Build is a movement, driven by the power of women supporting women on a Greater Portland Habitat for Humanity build site. Every year, this signature event brings together hundreds of women from all walks of life to address the housing and community crisis in the Greater Portland area, focusing on empowerment, solidarity, learning and pride in our community. Women Build is a unique opportunity for women-led teams to join forces, roll up their sleeves, and work together to build safe, affordable homes for families in need.
How to Join
You can join Women Build by volunteering, fundraising, sponsoring, or all of the above! For 2026 Women Build will take place in May at our Standish construction site. Volunteers are asked with helping to fundraise towards our $60,000 goal either through individual fundraising or through a corporate sponsorship. We encourage women of all backgrounds, skill levels and experience to take part, especially those who may never have picked up a hammer before. Through this experience we hope to build not just a home, but a community supporting women striving for homeownership.
Individuals
Want to join the movement? Come solo or rally your friends to join us for a volunteer day. Your fundraising efforts directly contribute to increasing access to affordable housing, helping families achieve strength and stability.
Corporate Involvement
Sponsoring Women Build is more than charitable giving, it’s a strategic investment in community transformation. Gather up to 12 people from your workplace for a corporate build event or contribute to our goal with a much needed sponsorship.
